How to Make Pure Vanilla Extract


3 Vanilla Beans
1 cup Vodka (for an allergen-free version, I recommend using Smirnoff Premium Triple Distilled Vodka)
8 oz. canning jar


Using a paring knife, slice vanilla beans down the middle, still attached on the opposite side, and open up. Place the vanilla beans in the 8 oz. canning jar and completely cover with vodka. Shake the jar every once and a while. Store in a cool, dark place, such as a cabinet. Ready to use in 1 month.
